He is due to appear at Coleraine Magistrates’ Court today, Friday, May 31, for a first remand hearing.

As is normal procedure all charges are reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service.

The charges follow the seizure of class B drugs with a potential street value of £300,000 in Ballymena on Thursday morning.

A 32 year old man, arrested as a result of searches following the seizure, has been released on bail to allow for further police enquiries to be conducted.

Detectives from the PSNI’s Major Investigation Team have charged a 29-year-old man with murder.

He is expected to appear before Coleraine Magistrates’ Court sitting in Ballymena via videolink on Monday morning, 1st August. 

The charge relates to the investigation into the murder of 63-year-old Victor Hamilton in Orkney Drive in Ballymena.

As is normal procedure, all charges are reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service.

A 23-year-old woman has been released on bail pending further enquiries while a 33-year-old man arrested on Sunday, July 31, remains in custody at this time.

Man to face Coleraine court over stab murder bid on woman

DETECTIVES from Public Protection Branch have charged a 28 year old man with attempted murder, assault on police, common assault and harassment.

He is expected to appear before Coleraine Magistrates’ Court on Monday, October 7.

As is normal procedure the charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service.

The charges are in connection with an incident at a house in the Hawthorn Terrace area of Coleraine early on Saturday morning, October 5.

A 28 year old female sustained a number of stab wounds to her body during the incident and is currently receiving treatment in hospital.

DETECTIVES have charged with the stab murder bid on two women at the weekend.

The stabbing incident happened at Beresford Avenue, Coleraine on Sunday 13th January.

The 17 year old male has been charged with two counts of attempted murder and two counts of possession of an offensive weapon with intent to commit an indictable offence. As is normal procedure all charges are reviewed by the PPS.

He is due to appear at Coleraine Magistrates’ Court tomorrow, Thursday, January 17.

THREE men are to face a court today over a brutal attack on a male at the weekend.

The charges are in relation to the assault of a 21 year old man at the Barra Street area of Antrim on Saturday, October 6.

Two males aged 20 years old have been charged with grievous bodily harm with intent and robbery.

A third man aged 21 years old has been charged with grievous bodily harm with intent, robbery and possession of a controlled Class B drug.

All three are due to appear at Coleraine Magistrates Court this morning.

Two men to face Coleraine court over spate of incidents at weekend including kinfe-point robbery

DETECTIVES investigating a spate of incidents in Antrim at the weekend have charged two men.

The men aged, 21 and 27, are accused of robbery, attempted robbery, possession of an offensive weapon and possession of a controlled drug.

Both men are due to appear at Coleraine Magistrates’ Court this morning, Monday, July 4.

The men were detained following attempts in Antrim to rob an off licence and a shop in Greystones Shopping Centre, a fast food restaurant in Fountain Hill, and a knifepoint robbery at a pharmacy, also in Fountain Hill, between 1pm and 2.55pm on Saturday, July 2..

The scene in the early hours of Saturday morning when the fire engine crashed into cars and a house on Larne’s Glenarm Road

TWO men have been charged over the theft of a fire engine in the early hours of Saturday morning.

The men – aged 66 and 19 – face further charges of burglary and causing damage to cars and homes.

The men are expected to appear in court in Coleraine on Monday

The fire engine was stolen from Larne fire station around 4 am.

It later crashed at Glenarm Road in the town, careering into a man’s garden and damaging houses and cars along the street.

PSNI Inspector Trevor Atkinson said yesterday: “I would ask anyone who may have witnessed these incidents to contact police at Larne on the non-emergency number 101.”

A NIFRS statement said: “Larne station was broken into and a fire engine was stolen.

“Subsequently this fire engine was driven into a number of cars and houses in the Larne area.”

The local fire chief, Kevin O’Neill, said the Larne station was also damaged during the break in.

“It is an inconvenience in that we have had to put in emergency arrangements, but we are in a position where we can deal with things,” he said.

“I would urge anyone who has any information to report it to the police.”

DETECTIVES from the PSNI’s Major Investigation Team probing the death of Anthony McErlain have charged a 33-year-old man with his murder.

The body of Mr McErlain was discovered after police were called to a house in the Broombeg View area of Ballycastle at around 8.30 pm last Thursday.

Police said the 48-year-old suffered a “traumatic and frightening death” and described the killing as “a heinous crime”.

MIT detectives had been granted more time to continue quizzing the man over the weekend.

POLICE investigating an incident on Friday evening have charged a man with attempted robbery.

The 36-year-old is to appear Coleraine Magistrates’ Court tomorrow, Monday, January 29.

The charge relates to an incident at Smithfield Place in Ballymena.

Inspector Mick Wood said: “Police received a report that a man, armed with a suspected firearm, had approached a delivery driver as he sat in his car at around 11 pm, and demanded money.

“No money was handed over and the man left the scene on foot.

“Officers responded, and after taking a description of the suspect from witnesses, searched the area.

“The 36 year old man was arrested a short time later and remains in custody assisting with police enquiries.”

Anyone who witnessed this incident is asked to contact police in Ballymena on 101.

Pauline Carmichael, 61, who was murdered following a ‘drunken row’

DETECTIVES from the PSNI’s Major Investigation Team have charged a 37-year-old man with the murder of Pauline Carmichael.

The man is due to face Coleraine Magistrates’ Court this morning.

Ms Carmichael was found dead on the shore of Lough Neagh on Wednesday.

She was last seen near her home in Hillside, Antrim, on Monday night.

On Thursday afternoon, police had been granted extra time by a court to question the 37-year-old.

His 59-year-old father who had also been arrested as part of the murder investigation has been released unconditionally.

Detectives believe Ms Carmichael had been drinking in Antrim on Monday had become involved in a “drunken row” before she was murdered.
