MAN CHARGED OVER UVF HOAX BOMB ALERT IN NORTH BELFAST

Detectives from the PSNI’s Terrorism Investigation Unit investigating a security alert and hijacking in the Crumlin Road area of north Belfast, on Friday 25th March, have charged a 40 year old male with a number of offences.

He has been charged with preparation of terrorist acts, hijacking and placing an article causing a bomb hoax.

He is due to appear before Belfast Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, March 31, for a first remand hearing.

As is usual procedure all charges will be reviewed by the PPS.

A 48-year-old woman, who was also arrested as part of the investigation, has been released.
