Detectives investigating an incident at Hospital Road in Newry on Monday, January 31, have charged a 40 year old man with attempted hijacking and assault.
He is due to appear via videolink at Newry Magistrates Court on Wednesday 2nd February.
As is normal procedure all charges are reviewed by the PPS.
During the incident outside Daisy Hill Hospital two men tried to steal a car from a woman.
She was punched in the face and the men fled after a passerby intervened.
A 30 year old man has also been arrested in connection with this incident.
He is currently in custody assisting officers with their enquiries.
