Detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding a fire at an industrial estate in the Stiles Way area of Antrim on Tuesday evening (October 19th).

At around 8.40pm, police received a report of an ongoing large fire in the area of Rathenraw Industrial Estate.

Thirty-eight firefighters and six appliances were at the scene at the height of the blaze but the NIFRS says the blaze has now ended.

Water jets and foam were used to help bring it under control

Stiles Way was closed for a number of hours and has since reopened.

A significant amount of damage was caused as a result of this large fire, including a large number of trailers being destroyed, along with damage being caused to buildings and other items.

Detective Sergeant Lyttle said: “Enquiries into this incident are ongoing and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.

“We are appealing for anyone with information and who may have witnessed any suspicious activity in the area or have information about this incident to contact detectives on 101, quoting reference number 1855 of 19/10/21.”
