A 39 year old man and a 26 year old woman have been charged in relation to a number of offences including Importing a Controlled Drug and Possession of a Class A Drug With Intent to Supply.

Both are due to appear at Armagh Magistrates’ Court today, Tuesday, June 8 for a first remand hearing.

As is normal procedure all charges are reviewed by the PPS.

The charges are in relation to the recovery of suspected heroin following the search of a car on the A1 carriageway outside Newry on Sunday, June 6.

Officers from Belfast District Support Team, assisted by Armed Response Unit and Air Support Unit, arrested the two people and seized quantities of class A and B drugs following a proactive policing operation on Sunday., June 6.
