POLICE have taken away a hoax device for examation after it was left outside a house on the Lower Shankill estate in Belfast.
The PSNI say officers received a report of a suspicious object located at the Malvern Close area of Belfast on Saturday, May 29.
Inspector McCullough said: “Shortly after 3:30am, it was reported that an object was located at the front of a house in the area.
“Officers attended and the object, which has been declared as a hoax has been taken away for further forensic examination.
“A number of homes were evacuated during the incident and police would like to thank the local community for their understanding as officers carried out a public safety operation.
“Enquiries are continuing to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident and we would appeal to anyone with any information in relation to the incident is asked to contact police on 101, quoting reference number 294 29/05/21.
