SIX RESCUED FROM APARTMENT BLOCK BLAZE

POLICE in Antrim are investigating a suspected arson attack at a block of flats in Barra Street on Friday, May 21.

Shortly before 11.30pm, police received a report that a fire had been started at the front door to a communal area of the flats, trapping six occupants inside.

Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue personnel responded to the incident and removed the occupants to safety.

At this time it is believed that a flammable liquid was poured through the letterbox and set alight, however, investigators remain at the scene conducting a number of enquiries.

There have been no reports of any injuries at this time.
