NORTH ANTRIM COAST’S NEWEST CARAVAN SITE AND HOLIDAY PARK

BY TIM HEDGLEY, GROUP TRAVEL EDITOR

There is little doubt that the caravan and motorhome market has exploded since restrictions were relaxed and people have been allowed to get out again.

Whilst tents are not allowed at this time (11 May 2021), self-contained units, i.e. caravans and motorhomes are allowed to visit sites.

So, it was with this in mind, I decided to try out one of Northern Ireland’s newest Caravan sites on the North Coast.

Highview Caravan site North Antrim Coast self-contained cottage

Highview Holiday Park is situated a couple of miles outside of Portrush, its position makes it a great site to explore Portrush, Portstewart, Ballycastle and Coleraine.

It’s close to the world-renowned Giants Causeway & the majestic Glens of Antrim. Northern Irelands premier seaside resort of Portrush is three minutes drive away.

Royal Portrush golf club, host to the Open championship 2019 is two minute’s drive away.

The Giant’s Causeway, Carrick-a-rede rope bridge, Bushmills whiskey distillery, Dunluce castle, the Dark hedges, Ballintoy harbour are just some of the world-famous attractions also in this area.

Highview Caravan site North Antrim Coast Glamping Cabins

Highview holiday park is a small family holiday park with twelve hardstands, four log cabins, luxury modern holiday homes and a self-catering holiday cottage. The Glamping Log Cabins sleep 4 with a double bed and 2 single futons.

They are fitted with a small electric heater, kettle, toaster, fridge, television and charger sockets.

Outside there is a picnic table and views across the countryside to the Causeway headland and out to sea to the Isle of Isla on a clear day.

Highview Caravan site North Antrim Coast Toilet Block

The park has an excellent toilet & shower block with accessible facilities. Further to this, it boasts a laundry/dishwashing area and a motorhome service point.

On my trip last weekend, I found the site without any trouble and it is well laid out with lots of room. The pitches were well developed and had an excellent electricity supply, good water pressure and super draining facilities also meant a trouble-free stay.

Shared facilities were closed due to covid regs, but I was able to see inside for press purposes and found them to be in superb order.

Hosting

The host of the campsite was David Agnew.

David understands that a quality product is what is required for the savvy traveller and he aims to please.

David is on-site to help with reversing, he has amazing local knowledge and can put you in touch with just about anything you will need for a super vacation.

Great free WIFI, good electrics and clean and tidy toilet and waste facilities make this site, one that will have a lot of repeat business.

Overall View

Sites at Highview will be snapped up very quickly. It’s a small independent site that packs a punch. They are running a super May mid-week deal of 3 nights for £55.

That’s going to be hard to beat!
