PEDESTRIAN DIES IN HIT-AND-RUN COLLISION

POLICE have confirmed that a 42-year-old male pedestrian has died following a hit-and-run road traffic collision in west Belfast last night Friday, February 5. 

The man who sadly died was Richard Gerard Boyle who was from Dunmurry.   

The collision on the Stewartstown Road was reported to police just before 10:20pm.

It was reported that the male was struck by a vehicle that failed to stop at the scene.

Police and NIAS responded to the collision, and the man was taken to hospital where he sadly died. 

Inspector Phillip McCullagh is appealing to anyone who was on the Stewartstown Road between 9.30pm and 10.20pm and witnessed the collision, or drivers who may have captured it on their dash cam, to get in touch by calling 101 and quoting reference number 1997 of 05/02/21.  

The Stewartstown Road was closed for a time as police dealt with the collision, but it has since reopened.
