FOUR TO FACE COURT OVER PRISON PROTEST

POLICE have charged four men, aged in their 20’s, with a number of public order offences including riotous behaviour and fireworks offences.

It follows disturbances outside Maghaberry Prison on Saturday , September 26.

One police officer was injured in the disturbance, said the PSNI.

The four men are due to appear at Lisburn Magistrates’ Court tomorrow, Monday, September 28.

As is normal procedure all charges are reviewed by the PPS.

Three of the men are aged 20 and one is aged 23.

The protest was held in support of dissident republican prisoners on hunger strike in the top security jail.
