BELFAST PREMISE SHUT DOWN OVER COVID-19 BREACH

A LICENSED premise in Belfast has been shut by police over a COVID-19 breach.

THE PSNI say that last night, Saturday, September 5, Chief Constable Simon Byrne and the Chief Medical Officer Michael McBride joined local officers in Belfast on routine patrol and licensing checks.

A police spokesperson said: “They engaged with licensees in the city to ensure they were adhering to their responsibilities as required under the Health Protection (Coronavirus Restrictions) Regulations NI 2020.

“As a result of this engagement one licensed premises was served with a Prohibition Notice.

“The Police Service of Northern Ireland is guided by the Licensing (NI) Order 1996 and the Health Protection (Coronavirus Restrictions) Regulations NI 2020 to ensure laws are upheld and people are kept safe.  

“We continue to work with licensees across Northern Ireland to ensure our community can socialise in a safe environment. ”
