WOMAN CRITICALLY ILL AFTER BEING STRUCK BY CAR IN WEST BELFAST

POLICE are investigating a serious road traffic collision that occurred on the Stewartstown Road in Belfast yesterday, Friday, June 5.

A female pedestrian was struck by a black Nissan Leaf at around 6.15 pm close to Suffolk Day Centre.

She was taken to hospital where her condition is described as critical.

The driver of the car, a 49 year old man was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving causing grievous bodily injury and has since been released on bail to return at a future date.

Police would like to hear from anyone who was in the vicinity of the Stewartstown Road at around 6pm yesterday and witnessed the collision, or anyone who may have captured phone or dash-cam footage.
