MAN ARRESTED AFTER WOMAN BRUTALLY ASSAULTED IN BELFAST

POLICE received a report of an assault in the Fountain Street area of Belfast City Centre on Monday 30th March.

The report was received at around 9pm that a woman aged in her 20’s had been attacked by a man after she was approached by two men and a woman in the street.

The man was reported to have punched and kicked the woman repeatedly, causing head and facial injuries as a result, which required the woman to be taken to hospital for treatment.

A 30 year old man was arrested a short time later on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent, possession of a prohibited weapon and possession of a class C controlled drug and remains in custody assisting officers with their enquiries.

An investigation is ongoing and detectives would ask anyone who witnessed the incident or who has any information which could assist them with their enquiries to contact police at Musgrave on 101 quoting reference number 1564 30/03/20.
