MASKED AND ARMED MEN ROB NORTH BELFAST SHOP

DETECTIVES in north Belfast investigating an armed robbery at an off-licence in the Ballysillan Road area yesterday evening (Monday 25th November) have arrested a man.

Detective Sergeant Fairfield said: “Shortly after 10 pm, it was reported that three males forced their way into the premises.

“Two of the men were reported to be wearing balaclavas during the incident.

“Two male staff members who were inside the property were threatened, with one of the men armed with a suspected firearm.

“A sum of money and a quantity of cigarettes were taken during the incident.

“Both male staff members were left badly shaken but not injured during the incident.

“A short time later, officers arrested a 25 year old man on suspicion of robbery and possession of a firearm or intimidation firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.

“He is currently in police custody pending further enquiries.

“We would appeal to anyone with any information in relation to this incident to contact detectives on 101, quoting reference number 2067 25/11/19.

“Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime.”
