OFFICERS from the PSNI’s Paramilitary Crime Task Force have charged a 57 year old man with possession of a Class B drug and possession of a Class B drug with intent to supply.

The charges are in relation to a PCTF probe into East Belfast UVF.

He is due to appear in Laganside Court on 12 December 2019.

As is normal procedure all charges will be reviewed by the PPS.

It is understood the man was arrested after a vehicle was stopped and searched under the Section 23 Misuse of Drugs Act 1971 on the Beersbridge Road, Belfast, yesterday evening, Thursday 14th November.

A quantity of Class B drugs was recovered from the vehicle with an estimated street value of around £60,000.

A subsequent search of a property in the Dundonald area was carried out and a quantity of cash was recovered.

The operation was conducted in relation to a PCTF investigation into the criminal activities of the East Belfast UVF.
