TWO TEENS CHARGED OVER SUMMER OF TROUBLE IN NEW LODGE

TWO males aged 18 and 15 years old have been charged with various public order offences.

The 18 year old male is due to appear at Belfast Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, October 8.

The 15 year old male is due to appear at Belfast Youth Court on Monday, October 7.

As is normal procedure, all charges will be reviewed by the PPS.

The 18 year oldĀ  was charged with various public order offences in the New Lodge area of north Belfast on August 8.

The 15 year old youth was charged with various public order offences which occurred on July 31 in the North Queen Street area and on August 8 in the New Lodge area of north Belfast.

Trouble flared on August 8 over a controversial bonfire in the area.

Police moved in to allow to contractors to dismantle but were forced to beat a hasty retreat when Belfast City Council decided not to remove the material.
