MAN ARRESTED AFTER CRASHING INTO POLICE CAR AND TAXI IN WEST BELFAST

POLICE in west Belfast have arrested a 30 year old man on suspicion of a number of offences including dangerous driving, driving whilst disqualified and failing to stop for police.

Constable McMullan said: “The arrest follows incidents in the early hours of Monday 29th July, when a police patrol car was struck by a white Vauxhall Corsa being driven recklessly in the Donegall Road area at around 4am.

“The car made off from police following the collision and a report was received of the same car then being involved in a minor collision with a taxi.

“The Corsa was recovered abandoned at Sliabh Dubh View a short time later and the suspect arrested thereafter.

“He remains in custody at this time assisting us with our enquiries.

“There were no reports of any injuries as a result of the collisions.

“I would ask anyone who witnessed the white Vauxhall Corsa being driven in the Donegall Road/Falls Road area or who may have dash-cam footage to contact police at Musgrave on 101 quoting reference number 257 29/07/19.

“Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime.”
