POLICE are appealing for information following a security alert in the Glenalina Gardens area of west Belfast on Monday.

ATO attended and removed the object and this has been declared as an elaborate hoax.

Inspector Murphy said: “I want to thank the local community for their patience and understanding during the course of this policing operation.

“I want to appeal to anyone who can assist us with our enquiries into this incident to contact police on 101, quoting reference number 233 of 22/07/19.”

Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime.
