MAN CHARGED WITH UVF MURDER OF IAN OGLE

Murder victim Ian Ogle beaten and stabbed to death in east Belfast in January this year

A MAN is to face a court charged with the UVF murder of Ian Ogle in January.

He is to appear at Belfast Magistrates’ Court today, Friday, May 10, for a first remand hearing.

The 40-year-old man was charged by detectives from the PSNI’s Major Investigation Team.

He is also being reported to the Public Prosecution Service (PPS) for attempted intimidation.

Ian Ogle died on Sunday, January 27 this year year.

Police say the 45-year-old was brutally assaulted to the head and then stabbed 11 times in the back near his home in Cluan Place off the Albertbridge Road in east Belfast.

Two men who fled to Thailand after the murder were later arrested at airports in England and flown back to Belfast to be charged with Mr Ogle’s murder.
