MAN ARRESTED OVER MURDER OF DRUG BARON JIM DONEGAN RELEASED

Jim Donegan shot eight times as he sat in his flame red Porsche Panamera car last December in west Belfast

A 63 year old man arrested at Musgrave Police Station this morning under Section 41 of the Terrorism Act by detectives investigating the murder of wealthy drug baron Jim Donegan has now been freed.

He has been released un0onditionally.

Persons arrested under the Terrorism Act 2000 cannot be released on bail.

The 43-year-old wasshot dead as he sat in his flame red Porsche Panamera car outside a school while waiting to pick up his son.

A lone gunman approached the driver side of his car and blasted him eight times to the head and upper body with a handgun.

Detective Chief Inspector Pete Montgomery said “Jim was brutally murdered as he sat in his car outside a school on the Glen Road in West Belfast on 4 December 2018.

“I would continue to urge anyone who has any information, or who witnessed the murder, to contact the police on 101.

“Or if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details, they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
