POLICE have arrested and questioned a man after a gun and a quantity of ammunition for seized during a house search in west Belfast.

The PSNI said in a statement: “Following a search of a property in the Andersonstown area of West Belfast by local policing officers, a suspected firearm and quantity of ammunition was discovered.

“A 56 year old man was arrested on suspicion of possession of ammunition and a suspected firearm.

“He was subsequently released on bail pending further enquiries.

“A number of items were seized and will be subject to further examination.”
