POLICE GRANTED MORE TIME TO QUIZ MAN OVER INGA MARIE HAUSER MURDER

Murdered German backpacker Inga Maria Hauser

PSNI detectives been granted an extra 14 hours to question a man on suspicion of the murder of German backpacker Inga Maria Hauser.

The 18-year-old student from Munich, was found dead in Ballypatrick Forest, near Ballycastle, in April 1988.

She had gone missing when see arrived in Northern Ireland on a ferry from Scotland.

A 59-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of her murder in May last year and was later released on bail pending further enquiries.

On Tuesday, he was brought back in for questioning and on Tuesday evening detectives were granted an additional 14 hours to question him.

A 62 year old man who was also arrested on May 21, 2018 on suspicion of murder and released on police bail on May 22 2018 was released unconditionally in December 2018.
