MASKED MEN ARMED WITH HAMMER TRASH HOUSE IN NORTH BELFAST

DETECTIVES are on the trail of a number of masked men behind an aggravated burglary in north Belfast last night.

Detective Sergeant McPhillips said: “We received a report just after 9pm last night that a number of masked men forced entry into a flat in the Cairndale area of Forthriver Drive, one of whom was armed with a hammer.

“Once inside, it was reported the intruders caused damage to the property, including to a door and a window.

“There was no-one inside the property at the time.

“I want to appeal to anyone who was in the area around this time last night and saw what happened, or anyone who saw any suspicious behaviour in the area to get in touch with us.

“In particular, I want to appeal to anyone who saw two cars – possibly blue and black-coloured – in the area, around this time, being driven suspiciously to contact us.

“Anyone with information they believe may assist our investigation is asked to contact detectives in Musgrave on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference number 1246 of 17/12/18. ”

Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime.”
