POLICE FURY AFTER GUN FOUND ON WASTE GROUND IN WEST BELFAST

DETECTIVES are appealing for information after a report of the discovery of a suspected firearm found at the Ross Road area of west Belfast.

Detective Sergeant Doherty said: “The firearm was discovered at waste ground in the area on Monday 29th October.

“The firearm has since been taken aware for further forensic examinations.

“This is another firearm taken off the streets of Belfast which could have been used in crime.

“The worrying thing is the manner in which this firearm was found.

“This is a residential area where many families live many with small children.

“Enquiries are continues and we are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed anything suspicious in the area to contact detectives on 101, quoting reference number 560 29/10/18.

“Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime.”
