PENSIONER CHARGED WITH HAVING OFFENSIVE WEAPON AFTER MAN ASSAULTED

A 65-year-old man has been charged with possession of an offensive weapon in a public place and making a threat to kill. 

He is expected to appear before Belfast Magistrates Court on Monday, 19 November.

A 36-year-old man was also charged with grievous bodily harm with intent and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place and was due to appear in Belfast Magistrates Court this morning.

The charges are in connection with an assault at residential premises in the Mountforde Drive area of Belfast yesterday afternoon, Wednesday 24th October.

A 42-year-old man was assaulted and taken to hospital for injuries that are not believed to be serious.

Damage was also reported to have been caused to the house during the incident.
