Traffic & Travel advice for Frampton fight, Ulster Rugby game & Custom Square gig

POLICE are advising motorists to plan their journeys today in advance because of a number of events taking place later today.

A PSNI spokesperson said: “With a number of sporting and cultural events taking place in Belfast on Saturday 18th August, road users are being advised of possible traffic disruption.

“In South Belfast, with a number of boxing matches being held at the National Stadium at Windsor Park, increased congestion is expected in the Boucher Road and Lisburn Road area between 3pm through to 11.30pm.

“In East Belfast road users are advised of possible traffic disruption in the Cregagh Road/ Ladas Drive/Mount Merrion Avenue /Onslow Parades areas between 4pm-5:30pm and 7:15pm-8:15pm due to an Ulster Rugby match at the Kingspan Stadium.

“Police will be placing cones near Kingspan Stadium in relation to Public and Event safety and to facilitate Emergency Vehicle Access to the ground and local communities.

“Access to Onslow Parade and Ravenhill Park will be limited to  residents, public transport and taxis dropping off fans at the stadium.

“Those attending the match are being asked to use Park and Ride facilities provided by Ulster Rugby.

“Anyone parking in the vicinity of the stadium should ensure driveways and other access routes are kept clear.

“Finally, in the City Centre, there is a concert being held at Custom House Square, which may impact on traffic flow later in the evening between 6pm and 11pm.

“Motorists are advised to comply with any restrictions and follow the directions of police officers.”
