POWER NI, Northern Ireland’s leading energy supplier, has donated £250 to Randalstown Central Primary School in Antrim, as part of its staff sponsorship scheme, ‘Helping Hands’. 

The Antrim based primary school was nominated for the funding by Power NI employee, Esther McKane whose mother Janet teaches at the school.

The scheme run by Power NI encourages employees to nominate local organisations and community groups which they are involved with.

The funding was used to purchase an award winning app that provides a simple and powerful way to log children’s achievements in the early years of learning.

Grateful for the funding, Esther commented; “I know how much the app will help the teachers to communicate to parents about how their child is progressing at school.

“The school does a lot of work to ensure that the pupils are getting access to fun experiences which relate to their lessons.

“I went to this primary school as a child and my mum works here as a teacher so it’s great to be able to give something back to them.”

Randalstown Central Primary, Antrim, is a school that endeavors, in partnership with parents, to provide a safe, friendly environment in which children can develop the skills which will allow them to grow into an academically able, independent, responsible adult.

Purchasing this app will allow the school to save hours of record keeping and increase interaction with their pupil’s parents by updating them through emails and photographs on their children’s learning.

Janet McKane, Primary 1 teacher at Randalstown Central Primary school said; ““On behalf of Randalstown Central Primary School, I would like to express our thanks to Power NI for their very generous donation that they have provided to us.

“The money has allowed us to buy the 2Simple App, which will allow us to keep parents up to date throughout the day of their child’s progress and what they are doing during the school day.

“This will be very beneficial to both the teachers and the parents. “
