TEEN ARRESTED AFTER MAN STABBED IN EAST BELFAST ATTACK

DETECTIVES are appealing for witnesses and information following the report of an assault and stabbing at the weekend.

The knife attack happened in the Ravensdale Street area of Belfast on Saturday, 3 February. 

Shortly after 7.00 pm police received a report that a man had received a stab wound to his abdomen.

He was taken to hospital for treatment to his injuries, which are not believed to be life threatening at this stage.

It is believed that as the man and a male friend were walking along the street they were approached by a group of approximately five men.

One of these men is believed to have stabbed the victim.

The second man was uninjured.

An 18 year old male was arrested by police investigating this assault.

He has been released on bail pending further police enquiries.

Detective Sergeant Gardiner would appeal to anyone who may have witnessed this incident to contact Detectives at Criminal Investigation Branch, Musgrave PSNI Station on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference 1082 03/02/18.
