POLICE are investigating an assault on a man outside licensed premises on the Upper Newtownards Road in east Belfast in the early hours of this morning.

The attack happened close to the junction with Holland Drive at approximately 1.30 am on Sunday, February 4.

The man was taken to hospital for treatment to his injuries, which are not believed to be life threatening.

Sergeant McAleese would appeal to anyone who witnessed this assault to contact Police at Strandtown on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference 160 04/02/18.
