DISSIDENT TERROR PROBE: MEN TO FACE COURT AFTER GUN AND AMMO SEIZED IN NORTH BELFAST

Two men to face court after gun and ammunition seized in north Belfast

DETECTIVES from the PSNI’s Terrorism Investigation Unit have charged two men, aged 36 and 37, following a planned operation against dissident republican gunmen.

The men have been charged with preparatory acts of terrorism and suspected possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life.

Both men are due to appear at Belfast Magistrates Court on Friday 1st December.

As is normal procedure the charges are reviewed by the PPS.

The charges are in connection with searches carried out earlier this week in the Antrim Road/Duncairn Gardens area of north Belfast.

A firearm and a quantity of ammunition were seized.
