THE countdown is now on to the opening of the exciting new anchor store at Connswater Shopping Centre and Retail Park as the date for the arrival of The Range is finally revealed.

Alfred Street Properties Ltd, owners of Connswater Shopping Centre and Retail Park, has today confirmed that the retailer will open for business on 29th December 2017.

The news comes in the same week that Home Bargains opens a 20,000 sq ft superstore in the retail park, further confirming that the scheme has turned a corner.

The Range, which is a national home, garden and leisure retail chain, will create 80 new jobs in its 55,000 sq ft unit.

The Connswater store, which will be a completely new look to the existing Ballymena and Derry shops, will represent an investment of £2m by The Range, with a further £1m investment made by the landlord.

The retailer will offer quality products across 16 departments including; DIY, Arts & Crafts, Homewares and Furniture, all at great prices.

The store will include a large 6,500 sq ft outdoor garden centre providing a wide selection of plants, aggregates and much more to spruce up the garden.

It will also have a family café selling food and drink at affordable prices.

Laura McCarthy, property asset manager of Alfred Street Properties Ltd, said: “The countdown is now on to what will be a very exciting opening at Connswater Shopping Centre and Retail Park. It is anticipated that The Range will be the catalyst to increase footfall at the centre to 100,000 per week.

“The fact they have chosen Connswater to be their first Belfast store is a big coup for the shopping centre. With Home Bargains also opening this week we have a fantastic line up for over Christmas and we wish both retailers well for the coming peak trading period.”

Chris Dawson, the owner and founder of The Range commented on the new store:

“Opening a new store is always a proud moment for the company and Connswater is no exception.

“It will be our third store in Northern Ireland and comes amidst another busy year of store openings as the company continues to expand and grow.

“We would like to thank Connswater Shopping Centre for all of their support in the run up to our launch and look forward to inviting the locals of Belfast to join us to celebrate our store opening on Friday 29th December.”
