TEEN MALE ARRESTED OVER CAR, DRUG AND BURGLARY OFFENCES

OFFICERS from the PSNI’s local policing team in West Belfast have arrested a 16 year old male on a rake of criminal offences.

He was detained on suspicion of a number of offences including attempted burglary, possession of a blade or point in a public place, Possession of Class A, B and C drugs, attempting to take a motor vehicle, aggravated vehicle taking, damaging a motor vehicle, driving while disqualified, a range of other motoring offences and assaulting police.

Chief Inspector Kellie McMillan said, “Just after 2.30am this morning, Police received a number of calls about a male trying to access a number of properties and vehicles in the Glenhill Park area of West Belfast.

“On arrival, officers found an abandoned car which had been crashed into another parked car.

“After a search of the area and a short chase on foot, officers arrested a young male matching the reporting callers description, who is currently helping police with our enquiries.

“We are appealing for anyone who witnessed anyone acting suspiciously in the area to contact police on 101 quoting reference number 80 of 28/11/17. Information can also be passed anonymously via the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”

“I would also like to thank the local community for their help in reporting these incidents so quickly to us, which resulted in the arrest.”
