MAN TO FACE COURT OVER BURGLARY SPREE

Man to face court over burglary spree on premises in Ballymena

DETECTIVES have charged a 42 year old man with five counts of burglary with intent to steal, assault on police and possession of a Class C controlled drug.

He is due to appear at Coleraine Magistrates’ Court today, Monday, November 13. 

As is normal procedure all charges will be reviewed by the PPS.

The charges are in relation to a number of commercial burglaries in the area of Ballymena town centre over the last six months.

The man was arrested on Saturday after detectives conducted a search at a house in the Ballymena area on Saturday, November 11.

He was detained on suspicion of 19 burglaries and six attempted burglaries.

Detective Constable Graham said: “The arrest on Saturday morning was a result of a very thorough and protracted ongoing investigation into a large number of burglaries at shops , churches and other commercial premises in Ballymena over recent months.”
