WRITE ON COURSE: Laura McGillion, Group Marketing Manager for 1 Oak Leisure Ireland Ltd, and Dermot Doyle, foreman for Oakleaf Contracts, are making sure that building work is on course for the grand opening of Belfast’s newest bar and nightclub complex which is due to open its doors on Saturday September 16.

WORK is nearing completion on Belfast’s newest bar and nightclub complex which is due to open its doors next week following an overall investment of £1.5 million.

The official opening next Saturday (September 16) of The Playwright Bar and TIME Nightclub will mark the first Belfast venture for the rapidly expanding 1 Oak Leisure Ireland Ltd group which has made a significant impact on the Northern Ireland social scene since it opened its first nightclub in 2012.

The new venue will employ 60 people and join the leisure group’s growing portfolio that includes TIME BAR + VENUE and Lanyon Hall in Cookstown, Johnny Foxes in Magherafelt, along with Rubys Nightclub and The Harp & Fiddle Bar in Strabane.

Formerly known as The Fly in Lower Crescent, The Playwright Bar and TIME Nightclub will contain three floors with a total capacity of approximately 600 people.

Group Marketing Manager Laura McGillion is excited about opening the company’s first Belfast venue.

“When we first opened TIME BAR + VENUE in Cookstown, we had no idea that it would fast become one of the province’s most popular entertainment complexes, attracting customers from all over the province,” said Ms McGillion.

“We are very excited to bring the TIME brand to Belfast, along with The Playwright Bar, on the site of what was once one of the city’s most popular establishments, in this prime location close to the iconic Queen’s University Belfast.

“We’ve totally transformed and refurbished the entire building from top to bottom and installed a brand new state of the art sound and lighting system to ensure that TIME Nightclub and The Playwright Bar can replicate the success of TIME BAR + VENUE in Cookstown.

“Belfast is vibrant and exciting, and growing in stature and reputation every day, so our intention has always been to give the city a top quality new venue that everyone will be proud of.

“With the opening of The Playwright Bar and TIME Nightclub, I believe that we have achieved that objective,” she added.

The Playwright Bar will be open from Monday to Sunday (12pm to late) with live entertainment from Thursday to Sunday.

TIME Nightclub will open on MondayTuesdayFriday and Saturday nights.

The club will operate a strictly over 18 policy, rising to over 20 on Saturday nights.
