A search was carried out today ( Monday 7th August ) at an address in Moyard Crescent, Belfast where police and army technical officers examined a suspicious item. 

Detective Inspector White said: “A number of items have been seized by police following the search and they have been taken for further forensic examination. 

“Unfortunately we had to evacuate a number of houses in the area while the search was carried out to ensure the safety of local residents.

“All residents have now been allowed back into their homes.

“A 42 year old man has been arrested under Sec 41 Prevention of Terrorism Act and is currently assisting police with their enquiries at Musgrave Police Station.”
