DETECTIVES have charged a 33 year old man with attempted robbery and carrying a firearm with intent to commit an indictable offence.

He is due to appear at Downpatrick Magistrates’ Court tomorrow, Monday, 24 July.

As is normal procedure all charges will be reviewed by the PPS.

It is understood the charges are in relation to an attempted armed robbery at commercial premises on East Street, Newtownards on Saturday, 22 July.
