TWO ARRESTED OVER HATCHET MURDER BID ON MAN IN NORTH BELFAST

DETECTIVES have arrested two men on suspicion of attempted murder after a man was attacked with a hatchet in north Belfast in the early hours of this morning.

Police say a 34-year-old man was reportedly assaulted and then struck on the head with a hatchet in the Glenrosa Link in the Duncairn area at around 1.15 am.

He was taken to the Mater Hospital for treatment and is in a stable condition.

Police arrested two men, both aged 26.

They are currently being questioned at the PACE custody suite at Musgrave PSNI station.

Detectives are appealing for witnesses and can be contacted by calling 101, quoting reference 100 of 25/06/17.”
