PAIR TO FACE COURT IN HUMAN TRAFFICKING PROBE

DETECTIVES have charged two people after a woman was rescued by the PSNI’s Human Trafficking Unit.

DCI Mark Bell of the HTU said the man and woman were arrested during the police operation in Dungannon on Tuesday.

Officers carried out searches in the area following a report of concern for a 29-year-old woman’s safety.

The 32-year-old man has been charged with a number of offences including human trafficking for sexual exploitation, controlling prostitution, rape and kidnapping.

The 20-year-old woman faces charges including human trafficking for sexual exploitation, controlling prostitution and kidnapping.

The pair are due to appear at Strabane Magistrates’ Court today for a first remand hearing.
