TWO MEN ARRESTED OVER DISSIDENT MURDER OF PSNI OFFICER RONAN KERR

Murdered PSNI constable Ronan Kerr

DETECTIVES investigating the murder of Constable Ronan Kerr six years ago have arrested two men.

Constable Kerr, 25, was killed by a booby-trap car bomb in Omagh on Saturday, April 2, 2011 as he was about to go to work.

The attack was carried out by dissident republicans.

A 27-year-old man was arrested in Omagh this morning during the planned operation.

A 40-year-old man was brought into police custody from prison.

Both men were arrested under section 41 of the Terrorism Act 2000 in connection with the police officer’s murder.

They are currently being held at the serious crime custody suite at Musgrave PSNI station in Belfast.
