DISSIDENTS BLAMED AFTER MAN SHOT IN WEST BELFAST GUN ATTACK

DETECTIVES believe violent dissident republicans abducted and shot a man in both legs in west Belfast.

The 28-year-old was walking close to Colinmill in the Poleglass area on Wednesday night when three men bundled him into a white van.

He was brought to Jamaica Street where he was shot once in each ankle.

Police said the man has now received treatment in hospital for injuries which were not believed to be life-threatening.

Detectives at the Reactive and Organised Crime Branch have appealed for anyone with information about those behind the shooting to come forward.

They contact detectives on the 101 number or alternatively ring Crimestoppers on freephone 0800 555 111.
