MAN TO FACE COURT OVER CAR ROBBERY BID WITH NEEDLE ON FEMALE

DETECTIVES have charged a man witha series of offences after a woman was threatened with a needle in a Belfast car park.

The incident happened in the Bankmore Street area in the city centre on Monday evening when the female driver was in her car after a job interview.

At around 6.25pm it was reported that a man approached the woman and forced her from her car.

He reportedly got into the vehicle with the keys but was prevented from driving off by the woman and members of the public.

Detectives have charged a 20-year-old man with hijacking, criminal damage and possession of an offensive weapon with intent to commit an indictable offence.

He is expected to appear before Belfast Magistrates Court tomorrow, Wednesday, April 26.
