MAN BRUTALLY ASSAULTED IN LOYALIST ATTACK IN WEST BELFAST

DETECTIVES are investigating after a man was badly beaten by a gang of masked loyalsits armed with sewer rods and a baseball bat.

The serious assault on the 29-year-old happened while was walking close to the Pony Club in the Forster Street area of west Belfast on Wednesday evening.

He suffered a number of cuts and bruises, police said.

The men made their getaway in a silver coloured car in the direction of the Shankill Road.
