WOMAN INJURED AFTER ONE VEHICLE CRASH ON M2

POLICE are investigating after a woman was injured following a serious crash on the M2 this morning.

The smash happened on the northbound carriageway between Junction 5 Templepatrick and Junction 6 Rathbeg.

Her injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

The PSNI’s Road Policing team closed one lane of the motorway was closed for several hours but has since reopened.

The Fire Service and Ambulance Service all attended the scene after receiving the call just after 9.30am this morning.

A spokesperson for NI Ambulance Service said: “The Northern Ireland Ambulance Service was called at 09:31 this morning following reports of a one vehicle RTC on the M2 between Junction 5 and 6.

“One Rapid Response Vehicle, two Doctors and one A&E crew attended.

“Following assessment and treatment at the scene, one patient was transported to Antrim Area Hospital.”

A spokesperson for NI Fire and Rescue Service said: “Firefighters were called to attend a one vehicle road traffic collision. A female casualty was removed from the vehicle by Firefighters using hydraulic cutting equipment.

“She was taken to Antrim Hospital by Ambulance. The incident was dealt with at 11.24am.”
