A WOMAN is to face a court next month charged over on-the-run prisoner Michael Smith after bungling prison staff released him by mistake.
The 33-year-old has been charged with withholding information concerning an arrestable offence Smith.
The 33-year-old is due to face Newtownards Magistrates’ Court on May 4.
The charged released to 38-year-old prisoner Michael Smith who was released from Maghaberry on bail by mistake and then went on the run.
Smith, who was being held on remand in the high-security facility charged with the murder of Stephen Carson in south Belfast last year, was arrested in the Carryduff area on Wednesday.
He had been unlawfully at large for nearly a month.
Smith has now been returned to prison and will face criminal charges of being unlawfully at large from jail.
