MAN PUNCHED IN FACE AND ATTACKED WITH MACHETE IN WEST BELFAST

DETECTIVES are investigating after a man was attacked with a machete before being punched in the face.

Police say the 30-year-old was getting out of his car on Monday when he was approached by the two men on the Andersonstown Road in west Belfast.

Detective Sergeant Keith Wilson of the PSNI’s Reactive and Organised Crime Branch: “One of the males then struck the victim on the hand with what was described as a machete before punching him in the face.

“He was taken to hospital for treatment to a wound to his hand and bruising to his face.

“I am appealing for anyone who witnessed the assault or anyone who has any information that can assist with the investigation to contact detectives on 101 quoting reference number 1367 of 27/03/17 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
