DELIVERY DRIVER PUNCHED IN FACE AND ROBBED OF CASH IN WEST BELFAST

DETECTIVES are investigating after a food delivery driver was attacked and robbed while on his rounds in west Belfast last night.

The PSNI say officers are appealing for witnesses to the brutal attack which happened at O’Neill Street around 8 pm.

According to police, the driver was was approached by a man who asked for a lift.

A second man then climbed into the car and threatened the driver with a screwdriver and demanded money.

He was then punched in the face before his assailants making off with a sum of cash.

The driver, aged in his 20’s, sustained bruising to his eye as a result of the incident.

Investigating officer Detective Constable Arnott is appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or anyone who has any information that can assist with the investigation to contact detectives in Musgrave Police Station on 101 quoting reference number 1218 of 17/03/17.
