MEN TO FACE COURT ON FIREARM CHARGES OVER POLICE OPERATION IN BELFAST

DETECTIVES from the PSNI’s Organised Crime Branch have charged two men to face court tomorrow following an operation on Friday in north Belfast.

A 21 year old man with conspiracy to possess a firearm in suspicious circumstances and attempted possession of a firearm in suspicious circumstances.

He is further charged with attempted possession of class A controlled drug with intent to supply.

A 24 year old man was charged with attempted possession of a firearm in suspicious circumstances.

Both men are due to appear at Belfast Magistrates’ Court tomorrow,  Monday 20th February.

As is normal procedure the charges are reviewed by the PPS.

The charges follow the arrests of two men in the Yorkgate area of north Belfast on the afternoon of Friday 17th February.
