WOMAN FIGHTING FOR HER LIFE WITH SEVERE BURNS AFTER FLAT FIRE

A WOMAN in her 60s is in a critical condition in hospital after suffering severe burns in a fire at her home in west Belfast.

Police say the fire happened at a flat in Ardnaclowney House, a sheltered housing complex off Beechmount Avenue.

The Fire and Rescue Service and the PSNI and the fire service attended the scene after the fire broke out in the woman’s top-floor flat on Sunday afternoon.

The fire service said that the fire was “accidental” and was discovered in the flat’s kitchen.

Three other residents were treated at the scene for smoke inhalation.

The flat was cordoned off while an investigation takes place.
