THREE ARRESTED AFTER £50,000 ‘SOPHISTICATED’ CANNABIS FACTORY SMASHED

The Comber cannabis factory smashed by police

THREE people were arrested and a large quantity of cannabis plants seized after cops smashed a drug growing factory.

Police say the premises on the Ballygowan Road in Comber, Co Down were searched by detectives from the PSNI’s Reactive and Organised Crime branch on Thursday evening.

Two men, aged 26 and 49, and a 39-year-old woman were arrested under the 1971 Misuse of Drugs Act.

All three are being held in custody on suspicion of cultivating cannabis, possession of a class B controlled drug, and possession of drugs with intent to supply.

PSNI Detective Inspector David Henderson said: “This was a sophisticated cannabis farm and we are delighted to have closed it down and removed cannabis plants with an estimated value of £50,000 from circulation.

“This is another example of the PSNI’s commitment to tackling the issue of drugs in our society and we are determined to continue to combat illegal drug supply and use.”

Anyone with information about the illegal supply or use of drugs is asked to contact police on the 101 number, or to pass details anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
