DETECTIVES from the PSNI’s Organised Crime Branch are jubilant after intercepting a drug gangs cannabis stash.
Officers say they recovered a substantial quantity of illegal class B drugs worth £70,000 as part of an operation targeting organised criminal activity.
The gang are now well out of pocket following the seizure.
Detective Sergeant Denis McGaffin said: “Herbal cannabis with a street value of around £70k was intercepted from the postal system by detectives on Wednesday, November 9.
“We believe these drugs were destined for a local criminal gang and our enquiries are ongoing to identify the individuals involved.
“Whilst no arrests have been made at this stage, I am delighted to have taken these drugs from the hands of the criminals attempting to profit from this illegal trade.
“I would ask anyone with any information about the use or supply of illegal drugs to contact police on 101 with that information.
